Khimsar is a place where one can experience the
essence of Rajasthan. One of the main attractions is the Khimsar Fort
situated on the edge of the great Thar Desert in the heart of Rajasthan.
It is believed that the fort had been visited by the Emperor Aurangzeb
himself. Earlier, it was a military structure full of turrets, fort
walls and stables. However, Azenana or ladies residence was later built
and subsequently the fort was converted into a hotel which is rated as
one of the best heritage hotels in India. Travel to Khimsar and
neighboring villages gives you a glimpse of the unique desert life.
