Travel to Alwar
Alwar is popularly known as the Tiger Gate of Rajasthan. Located at a distance of 150 kms from Jaipur, Alwar is a small city nestled in the midst of the Aravalli range.
The places of interest in Alwar are:
City Palace or Vinay Vilas Mahal - Representing a perfect fusion between Rajput and Mughal style architecture, the City palace houses government offices, district courts and a museum.
The Fort - This huge fort with its rampart stretching 5 km from north to south and 1.6 km from east to west, stands 304 meters above the city and 595 meters above the sea level, constructed before the rise of the Mughal Empire. It is a forbidding structure with 15 large and 51 small towers.
Siliserh Lake and Palace Hotel - Overlooking the Siliserh Lake is a magnificent royal palace and a hunting lodge, built by Maharaja Vinay Singh in 1845 AD for his queen Shila. Now converted as the Hotel Lake Palace, it offers boating and sailing facilities and is a delight for the trigger-happy photographers and filmmakers.
