Palace Overview
The City Palace Jaipur also known as Chandra Mahal or Moon Palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh during his reign and the royal family of Jaipur stays there even today. The City Palace stands out for its architectural grandeur with a harmonious blend of Rajasthani and Mughal styles. The palace covers a large area with its widespread courtyards, gardens and buildings.
At the entrance is the Mubarak Mahal which was used to entertain guests by the Maharaja and is now converted into a costume gallery displaying the royal costumes worn by the Kings. After crossing the first square one comes across two halls the Diwan-I-Khas meant for private meetings and the Diwan-I-Aam meant for the public. The Diwan-I-Aam is presently converted into an art gallery with alluring painted ceilings and rare handwritten manuscripts of ancient Hindu scriptures. The Maharani’s Palace meant for the royal queens is converted into a museum. The Chandra Mahal has fascinating architecture with mirror work, floral decorations and delicate paintings on the walls.
The Badal Mahal lies opposite the Chandra Mahal and located between the two is the Govind Dev Ji Temple. The Palace has a multi-cuisine restaurant with a variety of dishes available.

City Palace Jaipur is located next to Hawa Mahal and can be easily reached by the local buses, auto rickshaws and taxis. Jaipur is connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Varanasi, Aurangabad, Udaipur and Jaipur via domestic flights. The city is also easily accessible via rail and road to all major places in Delhi, Mumbai, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
