Fort Overview

The Chittorgarh Fort is one of the greatest and the most magnificent structures in the entire Northern India. Based on a 180 meter high hill the fort spreads to an area of about 700 acres. The fort has seven entrances namely Bhairon Pol, Hanuman Pol, Padan Pol, Ganesh Pol, Jorla Pol, Lakshman Pol and the name of the main entrance is Rampol. On reaching the second and the third gate of the fort the tourists can find two chattris that were built in the honor of the heroes of the 1568 AD namely Jaimull and Kulla. There are many palaces, temples, reservoirs and other monuments inside the vicinity of the fort. The names of some of the palaces are Rana Kumbha palace, Rani Padmini’s Palace and the Fateh Prakash Palace and all have their own significant way of architecture and design. The huge body of join temples in the fort is the most magnificent thing to be viewed. The large water reservoir at the opening of the fort served the purpose of water collection and saved the people in case of any water shortage.
