Fair Overview
The Sheetla Mata Fair in Seel-Ki-Doongri near Jaipur is an important religious festival of Rajasthan. The festival is held every year in the months of March-April and continues for seven days in Doongri. The festival is organized to honor the deity Sheetla Mata that is considered the goddess of epidemics. The devotees of the goddess believe that the wrath of the deity causes epidemics like measles, chicken pox, etc. Thus, in order to calm down the wrath of the goddess the festival is celebrated. The festival is only a one-day event.
