Fair Overview
The Sheetla Mata Fair in Seel-Ki-Doongri near Jaipur is an
important religious festival of Rajasthan. The festival is held every
year in the months of March-April and continues for seven days in
Doongri. The festival is organized to honor the deity Sheetla Mata that
is considered the goddess of epidemics. The devotees of the goddess
believe that the wrath of the deity causes epidemics like measles,
chicken pox, etc. Thus, in order to calm down the wrath of the goddess
the festival is celebrated. The festival is only a one-day event.

In order to pacify the goddess of epidemics the devotees at the Sheetla
Mata Fair offer her different things and seek her blessings for good
health. A red stone represents the goddess at the shrine. The fair has
its own one-day market and visitors shop for shoes, clothes, foodstuff,
utensils and agricultural tools. The cattle fair is another highlight of
the fair. Thus, visiting the fair would make you feel relieved as well
by watching the common folks praying to the goddess for a good health.
Location and How to reach Sheetla Mata Fair
Attending the Sheetla Mata Fair is not difficult for the guests
because the venue of the festival is only 35 km from Jaipur. Tourists
can take up the buses from Jaipur to reach at the venue. The place is
also connected by the nearest railway station.
