Kite Festival in Jaipur
Every year 14 January in India is celebrated as the Makar Sankranti for
the transition of the sun into the northern hemisphere. This day in
jaipur the kites virtually pack the skies. Everyone joins in the riotous
celebration climbing on the rooftops with their kites. It has only been
five years that this festival started. Kite makers make kites of the
sizes as big as 1.5 kilometer, which has to be controlled by many
people. Most of the kites carry a social message.
Information on Kite Festival
The three-day festival starts with an inauguration at the polo ground,
which is the venue where serious kite flying goes on for the three days
