Karni Mata Fair


Overview
The Karni Mata fair takes place twice in a year where many people involve themselves in the fair. The fair is conducted in a small town near Nokha in Bikaner district. They are carried out in the eve of Navratras taking place during the period Chaitra Shukla Ekam to Chaitra Shukla Dasmi. Another one takes place in Aswin Shukla Ekam to Aswin Shukla Dasmi. According to the English calendar it is in the month of March- April and September- October.

Reaching Karni Mata Fair in Bikaner
One can start from Jaipur (capital of Rajasthan) and reach till Bikaner, by bus. From Bikaner you can reach to Deshnoke. There you can hire a taxi and reach to a village called Nokha.

Celebration of Karni Mata Fair
The beginning of the Karni Mata fair took place when an ascetic woman named as Karni Devi gave her life totally in the service of enlistment of poor people. She was considered to have divine powers. People having belief in her power started worshipping her. The temple was based on her name where they worshipped her idol. This temple is also known as Madh. The Aarti in the temple is performed early in the morning. The idol is decorated with garland and golden ornaments. They offer bhog (food offered to god) to goddess.
