Banganga Fair


Fair Overview
The Banganga Fair is an important festive time that is conducted each year on the full moon day. Every year, it is is held in the month of Vaishakh that falls somewhere in April or May. Banganga fair is basically related to a rivulet which is supposed to be associated with Lord Arjun. It is believed, that it was him who created this rivulet near the holy town of Bairath near the Jaipur city.

Location of Banganga Fair
Bairath is a holy town and located at a distance of 85 kilometers from Jaipur. It is strategically located on the National Highway No. 8 Shahapura that connects to Alwar. Buses ply from Bairath to Maid and vice-versa at frequent intervals of time.

People from all the nooks and corners of Rajasthan come to pay homage to this living miracle during the Banganga Fair. A dip in that pious water and traveling through the various pilgrim destinations is considered quite auspicious. A lot of handicraft and trading business is also carried out during this fair time. Toys, household items, rural ornaments and handicrafts are sold in bulk. The chirpy environs and the hustle-bustle with a tinge of purity, makes the complete experience a memorable one.

There are giant-wheels, huge swings and merry-go-rounds also present to keep the children engaged in the Banganga Fair. The fair commences at Shri Radha Krishnaji’s then done at the ghats when people take a dip or have a bath in that pure water also the Shiva temple where all the devotees gather and offer their prayers. The purification of soul is temple and Math of Goswamiji is other famous temples in the vicinity.
