Baneshwar fair
Overview
The name of Baneswar has come from Shiva Lingam, word Baneswar means master of delta. The word has been derived from the local Vagdi language. The Shiva lingam exists in Mahadev temple in Dungarpur. This fair takes place near river Som and Mahi. It is conducted in the period Magh Sukhla Ekadasi and Magh Sukhla Poornima which is known to be Shivratri.
Celebration details
This is conducted by the merging of the two fairs that is the Baneswar fair and a fair conducted in the construction of the Vishnu temple. This is specially known for the incarnation of lord Vishnu. It is mainly a tribal fair and in this fair the tribal people associate and make a gathering for worshipping lord Shiva the whole night. The temple timings are from morning five to night eleven.
Location and Transportation
This place is at a distance of 6.5 kilometers from sabla. Sabla village is situated near Udaipur- Bhanswara- Dungarpur bus route. The closest place from this place is Banswara which is 45 kilometers away from Dungarpur. It will be the easiest way possible for the tourists to come via Udaipur which lies at a distance of 53 kilometers from this village.
