Kerala Backwaters and Wildlife

Day 1: Arrival at Cochin

On the first day, as you arrive at Cochin, in Kerala, India, our company representative will be there to meet you. He will be standing with a placard bearing your name, at the visitor's hall. He will transfer you to the hotel and complete all the check-in formalities. Upon arrival at the hotel, the guests are welcomed in traditional Indian style with aarti-tikaa and garlands.

In the afternoon, we take you on a guided travel around Cochin. Cochin is popularly known as the Queen of the Arabian Sea and is the oldest European settlement in India. Surrounded by backwaters, this city has always managed to attract voyagers to travel to Kerala, India. During this travel, you get to visit the Dutch Palace, the Jewish Synagogue, the Church of St. Francis, the Bolghatty Palace and the famous Chinese Fishing Nets. You also get to savor a typical Kerala lunch on banana leaves.

In the evening, you can enjoy the famous Kathakali dance show of Kerala

Day 2: Drive to Thekkady

In the morning, we drive you through a scenic route dotted with plantations of rubber, cardamom, cocoa and green pepper to the wildlife reserve at Periyar in Thekkady.

Thekkady, located in central Kerala, is a popular hill station and a wildlife centre. This town, which is an important plantation centre, has unending chains of hills and spice scented plantations. Some of the major attractions of Thekkady include plantation tours, elephant rides, trekking and boat cruises on the Periyar Lake.

The Periyar Forest in Thekkady is home to one of the finest wildlife reserves of India, Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. This Sanctuary offers one a fairly good chance of seeing the great Indian tiger and other animals, when you travel to Kerala, India.

Evening go for a boat cruise on the lake to watch wild animals. Stay overnight at the resort.

Day 3: Thekkady

Early in the morning, on the fourth day, you can embark on a boat cruise on the lake of the famous Periyar Sanctuary and observe the rich wild life that the place is so famous for. Periyar Lake, an artificial lake or reservoir created by a dam on the Periyar River is home to wild elephants, Asiatic Deer, Black Buck and Tigers, who come to the shores of the lake for a drink. Later you return to the hotel for breakfast. Rest of the day is at your disposal wherein you can explore various spice and coffee plantations. An aromatic experience, that you'll enjoy when you travel to Kerala, India.

Day 4: Kollam

Today morning travel to Kollam, the gateway to the backwaters of Kerala, India. Here you will be staying in a backwater resort on the banks of Ashtamudy Lake. Stay overnight at the resort.

Day 5: Kollam

Full day at leisure at the resort.

Day 6: Trivandrum - Kovalam

After breakfast, we drive you to Trivandrum. On arrival in Trivandrum, you are transferred to a hotel in Kovalam, where you have the entire day at your disposal. At your choice from any of the centers nearby, you can pamper yourself with a herbal, body-toning massage

Day 7: Travel to Cape Comorin

The next morning you will be leaving for Cape Comorin. There, you can visit the Padmanabhapuram Palace & Archaeological museum. In the evening, you can drive back to Kovalam and spend the night at the hotel.

Day 8: Departure From Trivandrum

On the eighth day, we assist you to catch the flight from Trivandrum to your onward destination, at the end of your Wildlife and Backwaters Tour of Kerala, India.
