Day 1: Arrival in Cochin
On your arrival in Cochin airport you will be welcomed
by our representative in the traditional manner and
assisted to the hotel for a check in. Cochin is a
commercial center and is well connected via sea with the
Dutch, Europe, British, Mediterranean and Middle East. The
cosmopolitan nature of the city is depicted in its
combination of structures which include several temples,
mosques, churches and a Jewish synagogue.
Our guide will escort you in the afternoon for a tour
of the city where you can visit the Dutch Palace, Jew
Town, Jewish synagogue built in 1568, St. Francis church
and the spice market which is covered with the Chinese
fishing nets and smells of the pungent spices filling the
air. At night you can watch the popular classical dance
Kathakali being performed at the hotel before retiring for
the day.
Day 02: Cochin
After breakfast our guide will take you to the places in
and around Cochin City such as the Edappally church and
Kerala history museum which has historical pictures of
Kerala right from the Neolithic ages to the modern times.
These can acquaint you with the history of Kerala in
brief. Our guide will then take you to the famous
waterfall at Athirapally which is 78 kms from Cochin. We
will further take you to another picturesque waterfall in
its vicinity called Vazachal which is close to dense green
forests and a part of the Chalakudy River. Before it gets
dark we return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 3: Cochin - Periyar (185 kms /
5hours)
After breakfast on the 3rd day of Kerala South India
Tour, we drive down to Periyar and check in at a lovely
lakeside resort situated close to the Periyar wildlife
sanctuary. In the afternoon after a nap we have a guided
tour arranged to the Spice and tea plantations which are
very popular here. We return for an overnight stay at the
hotel.
Day 4: Periyar - Kumarakom (130 kms /
3-4 hours approx)
Early morning at 0630 hours before breakfast we make a
trip to the famous Periyar wildlife sanctuary on lake by
the boat cruise. Here you can observe all the animals in
their natural habitat such as deer, sambhar, tigers,
elephants, monkeys, bison, wild boar, birds, leopards,
antelopes and more. After spending two hours at the
sanctuary we return to the hotel for breakfast and proceed
to Kumarakom. After checking in at the hotel we make a
trip to view the sunset from the boat cruise on lake
Vembanad.
Day 05: Kumarakom - Houseboat
After spending the morning at the hotel we take a
backwater cruise to Alleppey and stay in their AC
houseboat called the Kettuvallam while enjoying the ride
and observing the life of the villagers on our way. The
overnight stay in the houseboat is an unforgettable
experience.
Day 06: Arrival in Alleppey -
Mararikulam (12 kms / 30 min)
After arriving in Alleppey we will check into the
Mararikulam beach resort which is quite near and resembles
a small village with cottages giving the resort a
traditional look. The resort has all modern amenities and
supplies to make your stay comfortable. There is an
ayurvedic center at the resort with specialized herbal
treatments being offered.
Day 07: Mararikulam
The entire 7th day of Kerala Tour of South India can be
spent relaxing at the Mararikulam beach resort where you
can get a sun tan at the beach or play water sports in the
waters, or spend a day relaxing at the ayurvedic center
and avail of some refreshing massages and herbal
treatments.
Day 08: Mararikulam - Cochin (60 kms /
02 hours) departure
Finally it is time to leave and you will be taken to
Cochin City which is an hours drive from Marari and
the Cochin airport is another one hour drive from there.
