with aarti-tikaa and garlands.
In the afternoon, we take you on a guided tour around
Cochin. Cochin is popularly known as the Queen of the
Arabian Sea and is the oldest European settlement in
India. Surrounded by backwaters, this city has always
managed to attract voyagers to travel to Kerala, India.
During this tour, you get to visit the Dutch Palace, the
Jewish Synagogue, the Church of St. Francis, the Bolghatty
Palace and the famous Chinese Fishing Nets. You also get
to savour the typical Kerala lunch on banana leaves.
In the evening, you can enjoy the famous Kathakali dance
show of Kerala. One of the classical dance forms of India,
it is characterized by its elaborate costumes and
performances of tales from the epics.
Day 2: Cochin - Munnar
After enjoying a filling breakfast at the hotel, we
depart for Munnar, also known as the Kashmir of Southern
India.
Munnar is one of the prominent hill stations in India,
situated at the confluence of three mountain streams
namely Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. It is famous
for its lush green surroundings, lakes, reservoirs,
forests, and tea estates. The quiet environs of Munnar
attract the traveler to relax in the lap of Mother Nature.
At Munnar, adventure-seeking tourists can try their hand
at paragliding. Many enthusiasts travel to Kerala, India,
to pursue this sport. Munnar also has some of the highest
tea estates in the world. Anamudi, the highest peak in
South India, towering over 2695 m, is also in Munnar. In
the vicinity is the Eravikulam National Park, the home of
the endangered Nilgiri Tahr that roams on a stretch of
grassland or is seen climbing the pinnacles of the
undulating hills.
Day 3: Relax at Munnar
This day is for relaxation. Also a visit to the
Devikulam Tea Estate could be fun.
Day 4: Travel to Alleppey
Today morning after breakfast, proceed to Alleppey,
known as the Venice of the East.
On arrival check into a traditonal House Boat built in
the Kerala Style. Cruise through the back waters and
explore the facinating beauty of the backwaters. Stay
overnight in the House Boat.
Alleppey (Alappuzha) is situated on the banks of
Vembanad Lake, where the town's commercial centre lives in
a maze of canals. Set in the labyrinth of backwater
channels, the town is one of the best getaways from which
you can explore the unspoilt countryside when you travel
to Kerala, India.
Alleppey is famous for its natural beauty and for its
locally made coir products that are of a very superior
quality. Alleppey is also known for its Nehru Trophy boat
race held every year. The backwaters of Alleppey can be
best experienced in a country boat.
Choose between staying on a house boat or at a resort
facing the lake.
Day 5: Alleppey
Day for relaxation, visit to the paddy fields is also
recommended. On the houseboat, the tour through the
backwaters and the Vembanad lake adds to the romance of
this tropical paradise.
The bewildering labyrinth of shimmering waterways
composed of lakes, canals, rivers & rivulets, is lined
with dense tropical greenery, and preserves the rural
Kerala life style. You'll see the views change from narrow
canals and dense vegetation to open vistas and dazzling
green paddy fields, when you travel to Kerala India.
