Day 1: Arrival in Cochin
Arrive in Cochin where you will be welcomed by our
representative and taken to the hotel for a check in.
After that you will be taken for a tour of the city which
is full of peninsulas and islands and the finest natural
harbors as seen on the Arabian coastline. Cochin is well
connected by sea with the Mediterranean, Dutch, Europe,
British and Middle East. The cosmopolitan nature of the
city can be seen through its structures which have a
number of temples, churches, mosques and a Jewish
synagogue. You can relax in the evening at the hotel where
we would be for the night.
Day 2: Cochin Alleppey (70 km /
1.5 hours)
At nine in the morning we will take a half day tour of
the city of Cochin and visit the Dutch Palace built by the
Portuguese, the Jewish synagogue built in 1568, St.
Francis church and the spice market with its Chinese
fishing nets and strong smell of spices. After that is
complete we will drive to the beautiful city of Alleppey
with its backwaters, and lagoons. Also known as the Venice
of the East Alleppey is popular for its backwater
cruises.
You will be then taken for a ride in the backwater in
their houseboat locally called as Kettuvallam. The serene
surroundings and landscapes while visiting the backwaters
will be a memorable experience as you get to observe the
daily life of the villagers along the way. We will be
spending the night on the houseboat in Alleppey which have
comfortable accommodation and dining facilities.
Day 3: Alleppey Kumarakom (25 km
/ 4 hours by houseboat)
After having breakfast in the houseboat we will sail
down to the city of Kumarakom which is known for the vast
Vembanad Lake and the popular Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary.
Once we check in at the hotel in Kumarakom you can spend
the day at leisure in the premises of the hotel or go out
but return for an overnight stay here. This is how the 3rd
day of Romantic Tour of Kerala ends.
Day 04: Kumarakom Periyar (135
km / 4 hours)
After breakfast at the hotel we will visit the Bird
Sanctuary where you can observe a wide variety of birds
such as teals, egrets, Siberian storks, golden backed
woodpecker, darters, water hen, night herons, tree pie,
cormorants and more. After that we will drive down to
Periyar where we will check into a beautiful lake side
resort with the Periyar Wildlife sanctuary near to it. In
the afternoon we will take you to see the spice gardens
and the widespread plantations set amidst vast landscaped
terrains. We return for the night at the hotel.
Day 05: Periyar
We have an early breakfast at 0630 hours and go for an
adventurous wildlife viewing at the Periyar wildlife
sanctuary by a boat cruise. The Periyar lake in the middle
of the sanctuary is ideal for boating and observing the
wildlife from there. You can see a variety of tigers,
leopards, elephants, monkeys, birds, antelopes, deer, wild
boars, Sambar and bison at the sanctuary. After spending
about two hours at the sanctuary we will return to the
hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 06: Periyar Kovalam (250 km
/ 6 hours)
We then leave the hotel towards the South of Trivandrum
where lies Kovalam the most popular city of beaches. You
can spend the day on the beaches of Kovalam playing water
sports or just relaxing by the cool, breezy waters of the
sea. You can even avail of the ayurvedic treatments which
are very popular here to refresh you. The night is spent
at the hotel.
Day 07: Kovalam
You can spend the 7th day of Romantic Tour of
Kerala exploring the beautiful city of Kovalam or
spend time at leisure in the hotel before retiring for the
night at Kovalam.
Day 08: Kovalam Excursion to
Trivandrum
We leave for a trip to Trivandrum and spend half a day
here visiting the Shri Chitra Art Gallery and Museum,
Padmanabha temple and get aquainted with its cultural
heritage.
Day 09: Kovalam / Kanyakumari / Kovalam
(100 km / 3 hours)
After breakfast we leave for Kanyakumari which is the
southern most part of the Indian Territory located at the
convergence of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian
Ocean. Here we will visit the famous Vivekananda Rock
Memorial located in the middle of the sea and the Temple
of the Virgin Goddess. The evenings are beautiful
especially while watching the sunsets at the beach.
Day 10: Kovalam
The day is spent at the hotel where there are several
recreational facilities available to keep you busy. We
halt here for the night.
Day 11: Kovalam - Trivandrum
(departure)
The tour gets over and you will be taken punctually to
the Airport or the Railway station as per your wish for
your further journey. Here ends your Romantic Tour of
