Days
Day 1: Arrival at Cochin
On arrival at the domestic or International airport our
representative will assist you to the hotel for a check
in. Cochin is well connected by sea with the
Mediterranean, Dutch, British and Middle East and has one
of the finest natural harbors on the Arabian coast. The
city has a cosmopolitan look and includes a mixture of
structures such as mosques, temples, churches and a Jewish
synagogue.
In the afternoon we will take you for a half day tour
into the city of Cochin with visits to the Jewish
synagogue, the Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese, St.
Francis church, and the spice markets which are covered
with Chinese fishing nets. In the evening we retire to the
hotel and you can enjoy your meals while watching the
popular classical dance, Kathakali being performed at the
hotel where we would be staying for the night. Here ends
the 1st day of your Journey through Kerala.
Day 2: Cochin
After breakfast at the hotel we will take you to places
in and around Kerala such as the Edappally churh and the
Kerala history museum which will acquaint you with history
of Kerala from the Neolithic age to recent developments.
We will then proceed to Athirapally located 78 kms from
Cochin which has a sparkling waterfall and is a popular
tourist spot. We will then take you to Vazachal which is
another waterfall in the dense forests and a part of the
Chalakudy River. In the evening we will return to the
hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 3: Cochin- Periyar (185 kms / 5
hrs)
After breakfast we will leave for Periyar and check in
at a beautiful lakeside resort situated close to the
Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. In the afternoon we will take
you for a guided tour to the spice and tea plantations
from where you can buy freshly packed tea and spices
directly available at the plantations. We retire for the
night at the hotel.
Day 04: Periyar-Kumarakom (130 kms /
3-4 hours)
Early morning before breakfast at 0630 we will visit the
famous Periyar wildlife sanctuary by a boat cruise down
the Periyar Lake. There you can observe a variety of
birds, leopards, tigers, monkeys, antelopes, deer,
sambhar, elephants, wild boar in their natural habitat.
After two hours at the sanctuary we return to the hotel
for breakfast. We then leave Periyar and travel down to
Kumarakom where we go for a sunset boat cruise on the
Vembanad Lake after checking in at the hotel.
Day 05: Kumarakom-Houseboat
We spend the morning at the hotel in Kumarakom and then
leave in the afternoon for a backwater cruise in the
houseboat locally called as Kettuvallam. You can enjoy the
beautiful landscapes on the way with all greenery and
observe the daily life of the local villagers. We will
then stay for the night in the AC houseboats which will be
an unforgettable experience.
Day 06: Alleppey-Mararikulam (12 kms /
30 mins)
We arrive at Alleppey in the morning and check into
Mararikulam Beach Resort which is one of the best resorts
in Kerala with a traditional village look. The resort has
an ayurvedic center fully equipped with all facilities to
provide you with ayurvedic treatments and massages at the
hands of experts to relax and rejuvenate you. The night is
spend at the resort.
Day 07: Mararikulam
The entire day is spent at the Mararikulam beach resort
where you can spend time on the beach or at the ayurvedic
massage center which is popular for its traditional oil
massage. The hotel which resembles a village and has all
modern amenities is a perfect place to unwind during your
tour.
Day 08: Mararikulam-Cochin (60 kms / 02
hours) departure
On the last day of the tour we will drive down to the
Cochin airport which is about an hour drive from Marari.
