Tourist Attractions in Kollam - There are several historical buildings and many well known temples at Kollam. The Kerala backwaters are the most captivating. Location of Kollam - The cruise trip from Kollam to Alappuzha is the longest backwater at Kerala and is beautiful. The Rameshwari temple, Thirumullavaram beach, Matha Amrithanandamayi ashram, Mayyanad, Sasthamkotta, Ochira, Kulathupuzha, Ariankavu, Palaruvi waterfalls, Thangasseri, Jatayupara, Kottukal rock cut cave temple are a must-visit.

Kollam is located at 71 km from Trivandrum airport. There is an excellent road and rail route for people to reach Kollam. There are ferries that can take one to Kollam from the railway station which is about 3 kms away. Near about 30 percent of the town is covered by the lake Ashthamudi. Once, Kollam was an international spice trade.

Kollam Nearby destinations - Thangasseri fort boasts of history which is situated near Kollam. The ruins of Portuguese forts and some of the churches are also found near Kollam. The lighthouse is beautiful and an overview of Kollam could be viewed. The Thangasseri fort stands 144 feet high. The fabulous sea view could be possible from the lighthouse. One must always avail of the guided tours, as the journey is made more interesting.
